Italian shot-stopper Vito Mannone arrived at Sunderland in 2013, after starting his Premier League career with Arsenal, and enjoying loan spells away from the London club with Barnsley and Hull City.

Mannone made 15 appearances during his spell with the Emirates Stadium club, after graduating through the Gunners’ youth ranks, and has been capped by his country at under-21s level on 7 occasions.

Initially behind Kieran Westwood in goalkeeper pecking order at Sunderland, Mannone has since established himself as the club’s number one, making more than 50 appearances in his first three seasons at the Stadium of Light.
