Paddy McNair was re-united with his former boss at Manchester United when David Moyes completed the capture of the defender ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

The pair worked together during Moyes’ spell at Old Trafford, with McNair going on to make a total of 24 senior appearances for the Reds and earning 11 senior caps with Northern Ireland.

At 21, McNair’s best years are unquestionably still ahead of him, and supporters at the Stadium of Light will be hopeful that it is Sunderland with whom the youngster realises his undoubted potential.
